So you’ve booked in for TIXEL and want to know what to expect? Let me take you through it so you’ll be all clued in for the day of your procedure.
TIXEL® is a revolutionary thermomechanical technology that employs heat to renew, resurface, and tighten the skin. There are no chemicals, lasers, or needles used in the treatment.
What should I expect before the procedure?
Before the operation, a topical anaesthetic lotion is put on your skin for roughly 20-30 minutes. After that, your skin is washed with an antibacterial solution. Most people feel some discomfort or warmth throughout the process. You can take a primary pain reliever such as paracetamol (avoid ibuprofen/Nurofen or diclofenac) before or after the treatment.
What should I expect after the procedure?
Most patients feel hot for 2-3 hours after treatment. The skin may appear red and puffy for the first 1-2 days. Redness might continue for several weeks in certain patients with sensitive skin. Mild pinpoint crusting commonly emerges within the next few days and can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. In general, we recommend at least one week of potential downtime. Makeup can be applied to the treated area after 48 hours.
Proposed Treatment Plan
We propose a schedule of 3-5 sessions, one month apart. A yearly maintenance treatment is recommended after 3-5 sessions.
When will I see the results?
Skin quality varies from person to person; the results may differ. After 1-2 months, you should see smoother, healthier skin with a brighter radiance. The effects are usually long-lasting until skin ageing sets in.
What can I expect from the aftercare?
– Wait to use moisturiser until all heat has been removed from the treated regions, which usually takes 2-4 hours.
– After removing the heat from the treated regions, apply a light moisturiser at least four times daily or until the skin no longer feels dry (up to seven days).
– Unless specifically recommended by your practitioner, do not use active serums or skin care.
– After the treatment, you can wash your face with a light facial cleanser.
– Allow all micro-crusts to fall off the skin naturally. Picking at the micro-crusts or scabs is not recommended.
– Please refrain from applying makeup or sunscreen for the next 48 hours. During this period, avoid direct sun exposure. Mineral makeup and sunscreen can be used after 48 hours.
– You can improve your skin healing by taking vitamin C tablets.
– If you notice any signs of infection or cold sores, don’t hesitate to contact our clinic immediately.
